LAUNCHING A NEW CARRIER | CARRIER SCHEDULER

Resource Carriers

Resource Carriers are a modified missile type that allow you to send resources between one of your own habitable worlds and another habitable world that you or an allied race control.

Once you have researched missile technology you unlock the Resource Carrier under Planet Technology. Researching this technology unlocks two new options on your habitable world main screen. Since Resource Carriers are based on missile technology, improving missile thrust reduces the amount of time it takes your Carriers to get to their destination. As you improve the hull strength of your missiles, your carriers will become stronger. You can also upgrade the amount of storage on your Resource Carriers to reduce the number of shipments you need to make in order to move large quantities of resources.

Once you have acquired Resource Carrier technology, from any habitable world, you can select the Launch Resource Carrier option. This brings up the following screen:

Launching a new Resource Carrier requires both a destination and the resources to take to that other habitable world.

On the left you have a list of all habitable world you control plus all of the allied habitable worlds that you know about. Included is the distance, based on the speed of the resource carrier, between this habitable world and that planet. On the right is a list of the current resources on this habitable world and input fields allowing you to enter the amount of material that will be shipped to the selected planet.

Select the destination planet and enter the amount of resources you'd like to deliver to the remote world and launch the carrier. The resources are immediately requisitioned for the journey. On the next turn, the Resource Carrier will be launched and begin the journey to the remote planet.

You can only have one resource carrier in the queue to be launched during a given turn. To launch another one, you need to wait until the next turn. To cancel a launch, simply select the option to launch a Resource Carrier and then select the option to cancel the pending carrier launch.

One of the features only available to members is the Resource Carrier Scheduler. This feature allows you to schedule Resource Carrier launches on a regular, automatic basis. You can schedule up to two Resource Carriers to be launched on a schedule from a given habitable world.

Selecting the Schedule option next to the Launch Resource Carrier option on a habitable world screen brings up a new screen displaying any currently scheduled launches and allows you to schedule a new launch (assuming you have less than two already scheduled).

In addition to the destination and the amount of resources to be included in the shipment, you have a new option allowing you to select how frequently your Resource Carrier is launched. You can see the currently scheduled carriers at the top of the screen:

You can schedule up to two Resource Carriers to be launched on a scheduled basis.

When the progress bar under Countdown reaches 100%, a new Resource Carrier will be launched.
