SERVERS | GAME MODES

Types of Gameplay

When you join a new game, there are a variety of servers to choose from. A server defines the rules for the games that are played on it. A server can have up to 500 games running simultaneously on it.

  • Game Mode  -  Indicates the type of game that is being played on that server. (See above.)

  • Server Type  -

    • Free  -  Free servers are open to anyone who wants to play.

    • Paid  -  These servers host games open only to paid members.

    • Invitation  -  The games on these servers are only open to players who have been specifically invited to participate.

  • Allied Wins  -  Indicates whether or not allied wins are allowed in games on that server.

  • Turn Duration  -  Indicates the number of minutes each turn takes in games on that server.

  • Protection  -  Indicates the number of turns you will be under Solar Federation Protection on this server.

  • Dimensions  -  Indicates the y- and x-dimensions of the universe for games on that server.

As you acquire wins, you will discover that new servers appear and other servers disappear from this list. Certain servers can only be played until you reach a maximum number of wins. On the other hand, other servers won't appear until you've acquired a minimum number of wins. This helps keep new players among other new players and advanced players free to enjoy games without tons of newbies.

There are several different kinds of games that you can participate in. All games on a specific server will be of the same type. A given server can offer one of the follow types of games:

  • In a domination game, you win when you have defeated all of the other players in the game. If the server supports alliance wins, multiple players can win if they are all allied with one another.

  • In a land grab game, the game ends after a specific number of turns. The player controlling the most habitable worlds at the end of the game wins. If a player controls all of the habitable worlds in the game before the final turn is reached, the game ends immediately.

  • In a capture the flag game, the game ends when a team of players takes control and holds on to the flag of an opposing team for a specific number of turns.
